Only 8 km from Kożuchów you will find the North-South Expressway S3 Szczecin – Gorzów Wielkopolski – Nowa Sól – Legnica – Lubawka.

A-2 motorway between Świecko – Poznań – Łódź – Warsaw is located at a distance of 70 km from Kożuchów. The A2 is part of the European route E30 which brings you from Ireland to Moscow.

Air transport

You can take advantage of the passenger and cargo airports in Babimost (near Zielona Góra), Wrocław, Poznań and Berlin.

27 hectares for investors

The Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Kożuchów covers vacant lots for industrial development, with a total area of 27 ha. SEZ is part of the Kostrzyn-Słubice Special Economic Zone, one of the biggest Special Economic Zones in Poland, offering maximum legally approved tax relief.

Revitalisation of the Old Town

Within the framework of the project “Revitalisation of the Old Town of Kożuchów – Phase 1” funded by the European Regional Development Fund, the old town in Kożuchów has gained a second life. With the illumination of the walls and the castle at night, the historic town looks even more beautiful.

Renovation

Thanks to the project “Revitalisation of the Old Town of Kożuchów – renovation of the Castle,” the Princely Castle from the beginning of the 14th century has regained its Baroque brilliance. The renovated facade attracts the eyes and the camera lenses of guests and inhabitants.

Polish – German project

Together with the German municipality of Schwepnitz we have organised a joint cultural project “Polish-German Meeting with Folk Culture“. Arts and crafts workshops, performances by folk groups, an arts and crafts market, as well as a joint celebration were held in the castle in Kożuchów. It was one of a series of projects to promote culture and cooperation with the municipality of Schwepnitz, Germany.

Fire station

Almost four mln złoty were invested in the expansion of two fire stations of the volunteer fire department and the acquisition of a fire engine. The solid execution of this project shows our professionalism and good preparation for the realisation of the project.

Infrastructure

In May, 2015 we finished one of the most difficult road investments in recent years in Kożuchów – Kraszewskiego Street. A new underground infrastructure, new sidewalks with concrete paving and a bike path were built. The road was constructed within the framework of the “National Programme for Rebuilding Local Roads – Stage: Safety – Availability – Development”.

As part of the Government’s programme for the development of municipal and district road infrastructure for 2016-2019 district road projects are carried out in the commune of Kożuchów. In cooperation with the district of Nowa Sól the road in the village of Studzieniec has been modernised. In cooperation with the district and the city of Zielona Góra,  the road in the village of Radwanów has been modernised. The third investment is the reconstruction of Młynarska Street, Koszarowa Street, Rataj Street and Kościuszki Street. The reconstruction of the road in Solniki is the fourth project, on which the Mayor received funding.

Water treatment plant

Renovation of the water treatment plant on Elektryczna Street is one of the investments within the framework of the project “Providing properly filtered water and proper sewage treatment for the agglomeration of Kożuchów”. The value of the entire project is PLN 15 mln, of which 50% has been financed by the European Union. The commune of Kożuchów has been invested in the modernisation of the waste water treatment plant, the construction of the sewage system in Czciradz, the reconstruction of the pumping station,  the revitalization of the water tower and the renovation of the water treatment plant. The tanks for treated water have been refurbished. Technological pipelines and tank washings have been renewed.

Also the 100-year old water tower on Szprotawska Street in Kożuchów has been renovated.

Plans for the nearest future

Kożuchów Special Economic Zone

The little charming town of Kożuchów, surrounded by amazing 8-metres high medieval city walls, is located on a historic trade route. The medieval city walls of the town are among the best preserved in Poland. The impressive castle was the seat of the Teilherzogtum Freystadt, part of the Duchy of Głogów. Today the historic monuments create an unique atmosphere which you can enjoy walking through the cosy streets and along the illuminated medieval city walls.

Lapidarium

Visit the Protestant Cemetery from the 17th century to see more than two hundred historic gravestones. The lapidarium is one of the best-preserved necropolis in Poland.

Medieval church

The history of the Church of Purification of the Blessed Virgin Mary dates back to the 13th century. Despite numerous fires the church was rebuilt several times – therefore its architecture combines elements of Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque periods. The church’s inside is from the latter period. This beautiful church is home to the yearly Henrykowski Organ and Chamber Music Festival, taking place in August.

Fire show and knight’s tournament in May

Kożuchów, as one of the oldest Polish cities, organises among others events which reflect its rich history. Among the most interesting annual events is the Knight’s Tournament which takes place in May during the Kożuchów Days. After a day of struggle of chivalry and archery you can see the exciting re-enactment of the battle of Kożuchów from 1309. The day ends with a spectacular fire show.

Organ and chamber music in August

Hear the most beautiful concerts within the framework of the Henrykowski Music Festival in Kożuchów in August performed in the medieval Parish Church of the Purification of the Virgin. The Henrykowski Music Festival is a new artistic project for the presentation of organ and chamber music. Musicians from around the world, including the virtuoso Michael Kocot of Kożuchów, bring works by great composers like Bach, Bartók, Caccini, Praetorius or Schubert played on pan flute, organ, guitar, piano and violin.

Apples and other delicacies

Another event worth mentioning is the Feast of Apples held in autumn. This is also a great time to try regional specialties.

The Feast of Apples will take place on 24th September 2016 at 14:00 at the Market Place.

The culture of the „Kresy” in October

Get in touch with the rich culture of the Kresy – Eastern Borderland (the lost eastern territories of Poland after World war II) – during the Lubuski Presentations of the Culture of the Poles from the Eastern Borderlands and Bukovina. Enjoy performances of traditional dances and music in colourful folk costumes.

A concert will take place on the 24th of October at 6.00 p.m.

A short drive to Nowa Sól (16 km from Kożuchów) or Bytom Odrzański brings you to the water sports centres on the Oder, the second-longest river in Poland. Take a boat trip on the Oder and discover this beautiful river from a medieval barch, ferry, raft or kayak. In the village of Milsko, you can take ferry across the Oder river. Explore the specificity and diversity of the Oder river and the remarkable lubuski landscapes and monuments on the cruise ships Laguna and Zephyr sailing between the towns of Głogów and Kostrzyn on the Oder.  In the vicinity of the village of Stany on the Oder River (North of Nowa Sól) lies a beautiful, hundred years old railway bridge with a length of over 600 metres. If you want to see the greatest clay vessel in the world, make a stop in Babimost (95 km from Kożuchów). Experience the Middle Ages on a medieval barch in Nowa Sól hearing exciting stories by the captain.  During the “Odra Adventure” event in June you can watch rafts rafting from Nowa Sól to Szczecin (June). Try Lubuskie wines and other regional specialities in the vineyards located on the warm gentle slopes along the river.
